With a multicultural background and 20 years of live and studio experience, Brigitte Escobar is at home in any musical setting.
What sets Brigitte apart from mainstream jazz singers is her ability to sing in a multitude of different languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Swedish..) and styles. Her repertoire ranges from standards made famous by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and others, as well as incorporating songs from South America and Scandinavia sung in their original language.
Her natural talent for music and languages is wonderfully combined on her album, BRIGITTE released by Red Kite, with songs in no less than five languages. Beautiful melodies, traditional folk songs and upbeat jazz combine to create an album that completes one journey but is also sure to be the start of the next.
Kofi Annan, UN General secretary, complimented Brigitte saying: 'You sing beautifully' when she performed at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Bangkok 2004.
Brigitte's extensive engagements include performances at a multitude of jazz venues, festivals, concert halls and hotels across Europe and Asia.
Brigitte was the supporting act for amongst others Celia Cruz, Orlando Cachaito Lopez, Buena Vista Social Club, Afro Cuban All Stars as well as performing at EXPO '92 and Roskilde Festivalen (DK), the UEFA Euro Cup Final in 2003 and semi final 2005.
